Pain Relief

I feel like I'm in labour all the time, the pain is that bad.My doctor prescribed Apo-Ibuprofen-FC 600 mg and it does nothing for the pain. Most evenings you can find me curled up on the sofa with my bottle of Advil Liquigels and my hot water bottle.Does anyone know of an OTC pain reliever that will actually relieve some of the pain? Thanks.

Pain Relief

Anna - Call your gyn. and find out exactly what you can take prior to surgery. My gyn. told me to stop anti-inflammatory meds 10 days prior to surgery date.

Thanks Dot

I just phoned my gyn's office. The receptionist said she had no idea and would get my dr to phone me back.I explained what you said about the anti-infammatory pills and she said she'd never heard of that before. So my dr will either phone during his lunch or after the office closes.Hopefully he'll know LOL.

The reason you need to stop anti-imflamatories before surgery, life Advil, is because they contain aspirin and can cause bleeding. And of course, you don't need any problem with that before or during surgery. And there are a lot of alternative pain meds. I hope your doc gets back to you soon. And my doc said to also stop any Advil/Anti-inflamatories a week before surgery. Good luck!

advil

I do better with the advil if I take it gradually. I start with 2X 200 MG and then 2 hours later take 2X 200mg and then 2 hours later take 2X 200MG. I know this is a lot but it is the only way I can make it to work. I do this until I hit the 12 pills per day limit. Then hopefully I can go home. it works better because they don't all wear off at the same time.I am not recomending for anyone to do this just because I am. In fact I hate doing this.
I was told at my hospital that advil is not an anti-infamitory medicine......

Pain Relief

I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad with the pain. I have found the only thing OTC that touches the pain anymore is Motrin IB, but I agree that you should phone your DD to OK any meds you use at this point.
I will be taking my trip to the castle 7/11 and look forward to no more cramps/pain once recovered. (I HOPE!)
Good luck and keep looking toward the future when this will be all behind you.
Peace and Blessings.
