Stomach Flu

Hi Everyone,

I had a Total Laprascopic Vaginal Assist Hysterectomy on February 12. I am feeling a little paranoid tonight because my 9 year old son came home with the tummy flu after school. I really don't want to get it so my poor husband, who has spent the last week taking care of me, is taking care of my son. My 10 year old daughter is helping him as much as she can. I feel terrible avoiding my sick son, but at the same time I am so worried about catching it.

What are your suggestions if I do get the flu? Has anyone had to deal with that? I am feeling super worried since I am still in such an early recovery stage. Eeek.

Re: Stomach Flu

I had food poisoning two weeks after my operation, vomiting , diarhhea etc. I was so worried about my incision but my Dr. said if I protected it when I threw up I shouldn't do any damage.
He said to put 1 tsp, of bleach in my dishwashing water or in the dishwasher. The feces is where all the germs are so make sure you wash your hands after everything. Your son should too and ideally use a totally different bathroom. That's what they made me do in the hospital.
You have to make sure you don't get dehydrated. This goes for your son too. Also, they would not let me have anything to eat until my body settled down as they wanted to rest my stomach. At ten days you should be okay. Hope everything goes well.

Re: Stomach Flu

My DH and DS were both vomiting and I missed that one. But a few days later they got the runs real bad in another batch of flu and I caught that one. I walked about with a spray can of disinfectant and sprayed everything, door knobs, light switches, you name it all day and night long. Washed hands and used sanitizer. I still caught something anyway. Just do you best to avoid.
