Re: Surgery on Tuesday. New here

Oh Penney, I understand about the freaking out. I think it is to be expected, though I think that re-assuring each other that we can appreciate what we now have, and worry about what will come later is not as needed as we may think. I know that whatever comes, I will grieve and then handle it.. and find the support I need to appreciate what I have.
My worries are that I do not make myself clear to my Doctors (not the cancer ones). I had to fight my way to being believed, and I often cannot find the right words that fit the symptoms. Right now I am having congestion, and when I lie down, I hear a whistling/squeaking sound in my esophogus area. I have had this happen before when I had bronchitis so I will be off to the Doctor .. I keep thinking that I am lucky that this cancer was only a grade between a 1 and a 2 because I told the Doctor about my symptoms a year ago. Brought in a vagisil test that said I needed to see her. She did a pap test that came back negative and said that she did not see anything. Pap test does not show edno cancer..
Felt like I was dismissed as a hypochondriac..
So now I have this strange squeak which my girlfriend heard over the phone so I am empowered to tell the Doctor but it only happens sometimes at night when lie-ing down and not during the day... though I have heartburn often .. Needs to be checked out, if only because with having one scare I want to be sure that I am heard clearly now.
So, we deserve to be re-assured and extra care given to our concerns. I bet now that the "Cancer" word is out there that we will have better care. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise.. We will be watched and listened to and be on a priority list for care. Perhaps what we worry about most is what has already happened rather than what may happen in the future.
I faced the possibility of die-ing straight on.. Got my family all ready.. and now I have a reprieve. We will all die sometime, but now I am determined to put everyone on notice. I am going to live to the max. Am planning visits to my friends I have not seen in years and spend some of that money Iwas saving. Hey why should the next wife get it (joke!) so while being vigilant about what is happening to medically and getting the results I need, I am having a new lease on life..
We are the "Go Girls Go" generation now!
Squeazing every joy out of each moment and not limiting ourselves by the natural worry and doubt that creeps into our thoughts so often.
Hope this makes some sense. Feeling for and with you. Your honesty helped me lots.. Thank You. Maeve
