getting ready for TVH

I'm scheduled for complete TVH. Currently I have been on progesterone for 3 months to control bleeding. The side effects have been very uncomfortable which makes it a little easier to go ahead with surgery.

I would like to hear from someone else who had to be on progesterone before surgery, especially if they had weight gain (15 pounds in 3 months). My doctor tells me that it will be easy to lose the weight after surgery. Since I will no longer have my ovaries I am also wondering if I will have extreme symptoms of menopause.

I had a TVH and no ovaries, but did not take the progesterone before surgery.

I did not gain weight after surgery and as long as I eat healthy and do a few days of exercise I do okay.

I did have hot flashes and warm spells right after surgery and was put on estrogen. It took care of the hot flashes and other symptoms I was having.

I am off the estrogen now for 4 months and have hot flashes some but not bad enough to get back on the estrogen. I am off because of my age and dr suggested that I try to.

Everyone is different with symptoms depending on their age and health. If you are near menopause you may have less symptoms than say a woman that is younger.
