Re: PAIN 2 weeks post op
Hi there. I'm so sorry to hear you are experiencing so much pain. Recovery is so different for everyone but I wouldn't mess around with any pain that brings tears to your eyes; best to check with your doctor. Are you taking pain meds?
Good luck and I wish you the best!

Re: PAIN 2 weeks post op
Hi,
I had a different surgery than you, TAH/BSO but I was just getting ready to post something about the pain when I saw this. I too am exactly 2 weeks post-op and altough I am moving around better, I am experiencing a lot of stabbing debilitating pains that seem to come out of nowhere and bring me near tears. I theorize that this may be due to the tissues, muscles and nerves that were traumatized by the surgical process are now beginning to "wake up". It's like any other injury you would sustain, only this time it's on the inside so you can't see the swelling and bruising etc.
I think we probably just need to give it time and "pamper the princess" as they frequently say on this site. I have a post-op appt tomorrow and plan to ask him about this for clarification for my own sake, but if you are having pain that is unbearable, you should definitely call your doctor and make sure there isn't something more serious going on.
My thoughts are with you. This is a tough healing process. They told me it would be,.... but I didn't really understand until now.
(((hugs)))

Re: PAIN 2 weeks post op
One week post op following a davinci hysterectomy (one ovary remains). All the incision site is well and healing beautifully. Began driving short distances yesterday. My problems are 1) ANY little activity exhausts me. I need a nap after washing and folding a load of laundry. One of the nurses at the hospital told me that the right activity would help me heal faster and help with the gas pain. 2) I take colace (stool softener) twice a day and try to move around as much as I can, but when I have to move my bowels, I am literally clinging to the bathroom sink with one hand and a wall with the other. I hurts soooo bad. I have my 2 week post op next Tuesday. I will definitely be putting this topic on the top of my list for discussion with my gyn. I've been drinking a lot of teas and broth in hopes that I wouldn't need to move my bowels, however, I still need to "go" once a day. I anyone else experiencing this? (no one told me to expect it when I was discharged). I am praying that it subsides very soon. How is a person to live a "normal" life when bowel movements are not predictible? and the pain is also unpredictable. I was in the book store today with my daughters and the pain was so intense that I thought I would pass out--not to mention how embarassing it was. Anyway, I learned a lesson--to stay closer to home :-) Hopefully this will get better before I have to RTW in 3 weeks. Someone please just reassure me that it gets better. It does, doesn't it??? Thanks.

Re: PAIN 2 weeks post op
It does get better. 5 days post-op I bought my first pack of dulcolax suppositories because I couldn't stand the pain anymore. I had been eating 2-3 colase a day and 2 gas-x after every meal but things still weren't right. I used the suppositiries for 3 days and continued the colase but it took another couple of days for things to move right on thier own and even then.....it was still rough. Now, 2 weeks out everything is moving fine except me. I still get exhausted from doing small chores. I move about for 5 minutes and rest for 20.
Just listen to your body, it will tell you what you can handle. As far as digestive issues? Pay attention to what you put into your body, avoid processed foods, eat regularly and CHEW YOUR FOOD! I cannot stress this enough. Your mouth is your first point of digestion, and the more thoroughly you chew your food, the easier it will be to pass. My thoughts are with you (((hugs))) this is a hard thing, but we will prevail.
