Odd question: discharge and no cervix?

So, if I have no cervix will I still have the discharge that I typically would have in between periods? I am thinking no but not sure.

Re: Odd question: discharge and no cervix?

I would think that once your cuff heals you should be discharge free.

Re: Odd question: discharge and no cervix?

For about 6 and sometimes 8 weeks after the hyster you can have some discharge as internal stitches dissolve but after that you shouldn't have any. And you can make sure everything is healing correctly by getting your doctor to do an internal exam.
Hope this helps
Take care

Hi 4EverHis2,
No question is odd honey....every person body react different after major surgery. You may have a slight pink discharge. In the place of your cervix you will have a cuff and several stitches healing. You may even see some of them once they dissolve. So please don't be alarmed if you happened to a slight discharges.

Re: Odd question: discharge and no cervix?

As for the discharge, I'm going to ask my gyno when I go for my follow up in a couple of weeks.

My doctor did tell me before discharging me that I might bleed when the stitches dissolve from the cuff in a few weeks but it shouldn't be like a heavy bleed (changing pads within an hour) but bleeding would be considered normal. So I'm holding onto my pads until that's done.

I have a constant discharge, but it doesn't require more than a liner. My mom had a hysterectomy years ago and she wears liners too. After your cevix is removed you won't have those gooey mucus plugs though.

i was concerned about this, and asked my doctors about it when I was pre op. I have always had some slight clear thin discharge/moisture on a daily basis and I was wondering if this would change, and if I would feel "dry". I was unsure how much of this discharge came from my uterus and cervix and how much came through my vaginal walls. I wondered about my natural lubrication in regards to having intercourse.

I had my cervix and uterus removed and I really notice no difference with my natural lubrication/discharge. I don't feel dry. I used lube for the first few months after I was cleared to resume sex, but I didn't need it, I just wanted to reduce friction because I was still tender down below. If you retain your ovaries, you will likely still have discharge and lubricate naturally when aroused. I hope this helps.

Thank tou Lisa4358 and sugarspice that is what I was wondering about. The thick gooey discharge part. Someone explained the moisture from the vaginal walls in a previous post which explained another question I had

Re: Odd question: discharge and no cervix?

Your cervical mucus will be gone. We have to use lube for intercourse more now, but that's ok. But when I O, there's no need for any help.

Coconut oil works good.
