Re: On the other side!

I've been walking twice, and they're measuring the urine now. I did at my first walk to put on my own larger underwear and thin, dry, non sweaty pad, made a huge difference. The nurse told me the larger underwear was a great idea as it fit the catheter. So much more comfortable. Going to watch some tv and hope I can sleep. It's only been cat naps so far. It's major surgery, but I'm feeling pretty good. Thanks ladies.

Re: On the other side!

Wow, I couldn't walk the first day, I was just too blasted on the anesthesia. I didn't feel safe trying to walk, so I was rousted out of bed at 5 am. Sounds like you're doing great. I was all cat naps night #1. The oxygen tube was a nonstop itch fest.

On the other side!

They took the oxygen out late afternoon, but my nose is still itching. I just don't feel tired to sleep, but I'm going to try.

Re: On the other side!

For getting the bowels going again, the RN suggested not only walking but drinking hot tea as well.

Re: On the other side!

Well, can't sleep. Phooey.

And my house is all clean, stocked with, prunes, prune juice, apples, watermelon, oatmeal, tea, colace and Advil. I have extra pillows, larger lounge pants and underwear, all because of this website and the tips offered. I also learned what additional questions to ask throughout the process. This website has been a wealth of information. The doc can give you instructions, but it never compares to the advice of people who have been there.
