Manual or electric vacuum aspiration would not normally require anesthesia or sedation. Sharp curettage (which is what I had), on the other hand, is considered to be day surgery and is usually performed under so-called "conscious sedation."

(That's kind of misnomer, since you're not really conscious. However, your autonomic systems keep going, so you don't need a nasal tube.)
I definitely was NOT put under. The nurse called it that (and wrote it down on the procedure sheet that I had to sign my consent for the doctor to do (D & C), so I'm going by what she said and wrote, LOL.

Whatever the technical term for it, I know it was to see if I had cancer or not and that's one of the test results I have to wait on (as well as my thyroid being checked) next week.

Well, my surgery is set and I'm freaking out!!! It's June 6th, which sure doesn't give me much time to plan or get ready. I didn't expect it to be that soon!

I'm 49 and not ready to be thrown immediately into menopause, and don't want to lose that source of estrogen.

Btw, you had a D&C without general anesthesia?
Forgot to say that I also don't want to go into surgical menopause, so it's all hard for me to decide on. That's good to know that the risk of ovarian cancer is so low after uterus removal.

But on the bright side, an early date doesn't give you much time to worry either. :-)

LOL, very true, but I'm worrying enough as it is that I won't have enough time to get everything done first that I need to get done.
