Laparoscopy tomorrow, totally confused.
Hi there, I am 36 and had a hysteroscopy in Oct which showed no abnormalities, I have suffered heavy bleeding and very painful periods for 4 years now. It has gotten particularly worse in the last six months, I get severe pelvic and back pain, had a ct scan on back and my back is fine I have ruled that out. My doctor has said if that the pain is that bad then I should have hysterectomy, but I want to get to that place in my head myself first. I saw him today and I am having a lap tomorrow and Mirena put in. He thinks I could have Adenomyosis in which case if it is then the Mirena wont work anyhow. I guess I am having the lap to see if there is anything obvious wrong. I feel like my doctor was trying to make me feel bad about my choice, however it is my body and I want to know I have tried everything before making the big decision, because whilst I want my quality of life back, it is not an easy decision to make. He has told me he doesnt think he will find anything abnormal in the lap, which makes me feel like he thinks it is all in my head. Has anyone else felt like this???Do doctors just not get it???
Thanks for listening, I needed to get that out!

I hope your laparoscopy goes well tomorrow. A lap can show if something is going on outside the uterus and elsewhere in the pelvic region. It was during my lap that endometriosis was found.
If you and your doctor do not have a good relationship you may want to consider seeking a second opinion from another GYN or talk to your GP.
I wish you the best tomorrow! S
