5 days post op Total Hysterectomy

I am 5 days post op. No hormonal issues noted. I have had messed up hormones my whole life (polycystic ovaries, which led to uterine lining build up and eventual hysterectomy)..... So I am wondering if I will finally have "normal" hormones post-surgery? Guess only time will tell.

Re: 5 days post op

Your ovaries are "settling down" from the surgery, which may definitely include improvement in how you feel! I went from feeling like a sick, painful mess for over 5 years to being completely pain-free and finally "normal" in one relatively short surgery.

I'm over 6 months out, and I can tell you it's the best thing I've ever done. Everything is better: no more monthly debilitating cramps, no more buckets of blood, no more awful mood swings, and the sex....yes, it's better too, with the internal, bed-shaking orgasm back and better than ever.

No, my ovaries are definitely not "settling down" because I don't have them anymore! I had them
removed, along with my uterus. Guess I'm in a different category than most.....Thanks for sharing your insight!

Kerrplat, If you had a BSO along with your hysterectomy you may find you have some menopausal symptoms after a while. Mine hit me pretty quick but some women don't have problems at all or they have them down the road. Here is an article you may find helpful. 5 Interesting Facts about Surgical Menopause
