Some ideas for your list!

I am back from the hospital and soooo happy to be home. The waiting is the worst part! Once you are there, ladies, you are busy. I thought of it as a job with lots to do before I could go home.
Something that has really helped me at home is a bed rail. I borrowed it, but I am sure you can rent them. It slips under the main mattress and gives great support as you get in and out of bed. I have seen tons of suggestions for extra pillows and they are so right. I have one king sized pillow on each side. If I put it between my knees and hug the top, I can sleep on my side. So nice!
Finally, ask your doctor for sleeping pills while in the hospital. Nurses will still wake you up, but you will go right back to sleep.
