When Will This Spotting Stop???

I had very little bleeding following my LAVH three weeks ago. I stopped having any discharge up through my second week. However, this week I have been spotting pink blood. It shows up on a pad as well as toilet paper after I have used the bathroom. I recall my doctor saying something about spotting around the third week as the inner stitches dissolved. I was thrilled not to have periods anymore, so I am disappointed that I now bleed anyway! When I called the doctor's office, the nurse told me as long as I'm not "soaking" a pad with bright red blood, I should be OK. But how long will this continue??

What has your experience been with this?

When Will This Spotting Stop???

I phoned my doctor about the same thing at 3 1/2 weeks post-op. It was exactly as you describe. He said it could go on up till 6 weeks.

Two days later my discharge became greyish and smelly. I thought it was the stitches desolving, but now I am not sure. I have had it 5 days now, it gets more, brownish and itchy. Since it is saturday I will wait till monday. If it is the same then, I will phone my doctor again. I will let you know what he says.

When Will This Spotting Stop???

Thank you for posting your question. We have the same surgery date and I am having a similar experience. I had minimal bleeding after surgery , some slight spotting week 1(not enough for me to wear a pad) , nothing week 2, and now I am spotting again. I was getting concerned as it is a little darker brown this morning and I wasn't sure what was going on . I was expecting for the bleeding to be over too but I guess this recovery process is exactly that - a process. At the beginning of week three I was so stir crazy and anxious to get back to something like my "normal life" (I can only stand so much daytime television I think I did too much. I paid for it on Thursday though - I was in bed all day and very achy. Keeping a journal has been very helpful for me because I can't remember how I felt on a particular day or how far along I've come since surgery - That was a suggestion given to me by one who has been there so just wanted to pass it on. Be well.

When Will This Spotting Stop???

I am also soooo tired of the drips!! Just when I think that the spotting will stop, it begins again. Tea colored and smelly - ugh! Have my 4 week post-op this Thursday and will be released for work the week after. Really hoping that the drainage stops before then - don't want to be wafting foul odors around the office.....

From the posts I have read it seems that the amount and duration of the discharge is different for everyone. I have been more active - maybe a bit too much and don't know if that contributes to having more drainage or not.

Just want to say goodbye to pantyliners like I did to my stockpile of tampons!!

When Will This Spotting Stop???

My dr said that tan to brown discharge could last up to 6 weeks. I'm still having the pinkish tan stuff, but I'm only 16 days postop. I'm impatient and ready for it to be gone as well.

When Will This Spotting Stop???

I am now nearly 8 weeks out of surgery and for the past 1 1/2 weeks, I have finally been pad free! It was mainly just annoying spotting, the pad was clean more often than not. I still have a little bit on the toilet tissue occasionally. My doc said that this is not uncommon. I am aslo looking forward to the day that I can throw out the pads like I did the tampons. However, the day that I broke down and bought yet ANOTHER box of pads, was the day that I quit needing them. My dh has chuckled that it was a small investment for making the bleeding go away!
