Re: Hysterectomy recovery ....... with pets

I have the same thing on my mind: Husband and I live in a 1 bedroom apt and have 2 cats that stopped getting along a few years ago. We have to separate them. 1 will sleep with us in the bedroom while the other has the run of the rest of the place. We switch them out about every 10 hours and also switch up which cat sleeps with us so they both get turns.
Since I'm going to have abdominal surgery, I plan on boarding 1 at the vet for the first 3-4 days and then switching to boarding the other for the same time while the first comes back home.
I just don't want to have to think about keeping them separate while I recover for the first week.

Joji - have you thought about using a baby gate or something similar to keep them in a separate room until you get settled?

Re: Hysterectomy recovery ....... with pets

I have a big dog and two cats in the house. We borded the dog for the first several days home, just because he is young and boisterous and I didn't want h jumping, which he does sometimes still when he gets excited. He boards at a doggy daycare so we had the added benefit that he was exhausted when he came home. The cats doesn't usually sleep with me so I didn't have an issue there. I was worried about the cats tripping me too, but I was haut careful around them and it wasn't ever an issue.
