Pre-Op Medications to Stop Prior to Surgery

I am due to have a TVH on 3rd of June due to Cin 3 pre-cancerous cells in cervix, prolapsed uterus, fibroids and heavy bleeding. I am currently taking one of the SSRI anti - depressant drups called Exfexor (Australian pharmecutical name) should I stop this prior to my surgery? I am concerned about stopping the drug as I do not want to go into this surgery feeling blue.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

I love this site it is brilliant.

thanks
Jo

Pre-Op Medications to Stop Prior to Surgery

Hi, Jo,

This is a question for your doctor. Each doctor seems to have different preferences about when or if to stop medications.

My doctor told me to take my antidepressant as usual before surgery. I take it at bedtime, so that worked out well.

Good luck with your surgery. If you're taking any other medications, ask about those too, when you call your doc.

Best wishes,
Helen
