Headaches Off Pain Meds?

Ever since I've come off my pain meds, I've been getting headaches. Has anyone else had this problem and what's been the cure other than other pain meds? It's a viscious cycle for me when I'm finally starting to feel good everywhere else....

I get headaches ...but my Dr. told me it was the anesthesia

He said I might have them on and off for for 2-3 months, as that is howl long it takes for the stuff to really leave the body !!!

I just take an asprin if they are too bad.

When you're taking lots of pain meds for days or weeks, you can get what are called rebound headaches when you go off them. You can either just tough it out and they will settle down, or try treating them with different pain meds (ie. aspirin instead of tylenol) in lower doses until they go away.

Aspirin??!! I have killer headaches and I have had a headache for the past three days and on and off for a week. Aspirin won't touch it! I take pain meds in the morning only when I have to go into work but there is no relief for my head. These headaches are awful. I am thinking about calling my MD this weekend to get through this day. Any ideas for relief?

Thank you for the recent post about rebound headaches.....I had no idea. I'm not sure how long I can tough it out. I am taking Tylenol with little relief.

Saturn, I know what you mean about aspirin - they're like candy to me, no relief at all. But then I was on narcotics for years before my hyst, so I know I have a pretty high tolerance for that kind of thing.

If it's lasting days and weeks, though, it might be something else. My rebounds usually go away after a day or two of lowering, eliminating or changing meds.
