another cold pre-surgery week

Hi all. My surgery is supposed to be on the 23rd (next Monday), and Sunday I turn up with a cold/sore throat/flu/whatever is going around. I'm really hoping that the week gives me time to get rid of it, but I'm one of those folks who frequently has colds...or at least the cough...hang on and on.
I've called my surgeon's office--his nurse told me to keep taking my temperature, and to call them back if it goes over 101 (I THINK that's to prescribe antibiotics, not to cancel!). I'm sure it was over that at the beginning, but I didn't have a thermometer 'til today.
Anyway, not sure what I'm looking for--prayers, good thoughts...whatever you do for positive returns--would be appreciated. In the meantime, along with prayers of my own, I'm drinking lots of fluids, eating fresh fruit, all the things I'm supposed to. And the nurse gave me the go-ahead to do whatever (over the counter!), will help me rest with this thing. (Nasty headache with this one, and I've been avoiding ibuprofen...)
Anyway, that's what's happening now. I'll let you know where this goes in the next couple days. mm

I got a cold right before my surgery and my dr told me that unless I was running a fever or couldn't breathe well enough, surgery would proceed as scheduled. It did and I hope that it can for you too

I am so glad to hear that....I am going for my pre-op appt. this morning and I have a wicked cold. I was thinking my doc might want to reschedule. You just made my day. My surgery is 2 weeks away though.
