4 weeks and still on IB???

Hi everyone! I am 4 weeks today! I asked my Dr. a few days into recovery if I could go off meds, he said pain yes Ibuprophen no continue taking 800 mg every 8 hours for two weeks. O.K. so at two weeks I said can I stop now? he said no. Take 800 mg every day for the whole six weeks. I am now I think having stomache indegestion from so much IB. Has any one else had to take so much IB?

still on IB

Well, every doctor is different but I was told to take them "as needed" and I haven't needed them for the last week. Also my surgery was April 6. It is very likely that weeks of IB use can upset your stomach. How is your pain level? What other meds were you on before?

4 weeks and still on IB???

Thanks for your reply! I was on Loritab pain pills the first couple of days and then as needed.

My pain is not to bad during the day but a little worse at night. I asked to go off all meds on day three, so pain level was not to bad. If I had to compare to my periods before, After surgury I was maybe a 2 or 3 and on my periods a 10! So, so far so good!!

What type of Hyst. did you have?

4 weeks and still on IB???

I am 8 days postop and I received a 10-pack of Percocet for more severe pain or if I felt I could control it with ibuprofen to take 800 mg every 8 hours. Of course I am still taking the 800 mg since I am 8 days postop, and I also make sure I take them with a meal or a couple saltine crackers to help guard against an upset stomach.

I plan to reduce my dosage of ibuprofen as I am able, 800 mg is 4 pills at a time and hopefully I can reduce this as my recovery progresses.

This is the first day I have felt some of my old "energy" return, it is a nice feeling!!

Hope you are feeling better with each new day!!

Wow. That is a lot of IB. Why would you need it if you felt ok? I stopped Percoset four days after coming home and then stopped Tylenol a few days after that. I would talk to the dr. again.
