Almost 5 weeks post op Vaginal pressure and cramping

Tuesday will be 5 weeks since my hyst and this weekend I have been rather crampy and today I have had some pressure in my vagina. Anyone else experience that and is this typical?

I did not have this surgery or symptom, but I would get checked as soon as you can, especially if it does not go away.

Re: Almost 5 weeks post op Vaginal pressure and cramping

Thanks Sarah. The pressure doesn't seem to be there this morning, still a bit crampy. Maybe I just overdid it the past couple days. I'll see how the day goes and if it returns or the cramps don't go away I'll give my doctor a call.

Re: Almost 5 weeks post op Vaginal pressure and cramping

I had a similar experience in week 5. For me, that was about the time I started to feel a renewal of energy...so I started to do more and more. Also, it was about then the vaginal cuff was doing some major healing. With that combination, I started to experience some vaginal pressure, spotting, and cramping. It lasted about two-weeks...and then it was gone. Tomorrow, is 8-weeks for me, and I just wanted to assure you that each week gets better.

Happy Healing!

Re: Almost 5 weeks post op Vaginal pressure and cramping

Hmmm, I am post op day 4 and have had quite a bit of vaginal pressure since day 2. I figured it was normal... Sort if feels like the circumferential pressure from when it was time to push! Maybe I should call the doc? Is my vagina going to fall out!?

Re: Almost 5 weeks post op Vaginal pressure and cramping

I called my doctor and they said that my bladder is probably swollen and spasming. Told me to lay down, take ibuprofen to take care of the swelling, and drink plenty of water. The nurse told me that sitting was actually worse than standing too. If I wasn't feeling better tomorrow to call back and they would have me come in for a urine culture.

Re: Almost 5 weeks post op Vaginal pressure and cramping

I had vaginal pressure since week2 and it was pretty much the only unpleasant symptom I had throughout most of my recovery - I felt it a lot when I did more things, carried a basket at the grocery store or pushed open a very heavy door, etc - I would feel a lot of pressure where I imagined the vaginal cuff to be/high up in the vaginal area. Sometimes I would also experience some low-level cramping. I never had any spotting/discharge. I am in Week 7 now and still have the pressure at times but it's definitely sharply decreased. I had my 6 week check up today (belatedly b/c the doctor had to reschedule) and the surgeon did an internal exam and said the cuff had healed perfectly.

Always good to check with your doctor (mine seemed very surprised by my symptom, said she had not heard it before, but a friend checked with a good friend of his who's a very experienced ob-gyn and he told my friend that the feeling in the vaginal area is the tissues healing.

Hope you feel better soonest, I know it's aggravating and I also worried early on that everything was going to fall out!!!
