Am I ready for WalMart--two weeks post-op?

I have been going out since day 5, my husband has been driving. Only gone for a couple of hours at a time. I come home and put my feet up but am doing well. It will be 2 weeks this Friday (4/7/06). Don't pick up anything and take it very slowly. If a friend or loved one can drop you off at the front of the store it helps alot.
Bless you all. I am so glad I found this site.

TAH/Adenomyosis and endometriosis stuck to my insides like cement according to doc and also stuck to bladder.

The motor carts are wonderful! No pushing a cart because you have your little basket. A lot less tiring, although it will wear your back out. That is when it is nice to get up and grab some of the things you need.

My suggestion is: Don't go it alone! Have someone drop you off out front and be there to reach the high stuff or push the cart if it gets too heavy. Then when you are all done, they can go get your chariot (car) if you are too tired. If you didn't get tired, you could probably walk to the car. But at least you have an out if you do get tired.
Take it slow! Take care of yourself!
You only get one chance to heal correctly!

Hi maxandkel
You have gotten some good input here. I just want to add a little information so you will know what you are wanting to avoid. You are very early post op and still healing so you need to be really careful not to lift, reach, bend - all of that. I am guessing it will be tiring for you, but if you are walking that much you are probably doing better than I was at this point. I couldn't have done it at two weeks and when I tried at 4 weeks I felt like my pelvic floor was going to fall out of my body onto the floor. It was just too much on my feet even then.
There are some great articles I hope you will read on Adhesions and how to prevent them and another one on Doing too much too soon . I just don't want to see you hurt yourself. I hope if you go you will be very careful.

My only suggestion would be to take someone with you to reach stuff on higher shelves, and to push the cart. If you start hurting, or feeling bad, you can always go home. I went shopping at 2 weeks, to the sporting goods store, and it was so good to get out. Since you have been walking so much already you will probably do OK.

Have fun. Retail therapy is the best!

Thanks for those links PreciousPearl. I'm two weeks today too, and I had planned several errands for my inaugural trip "out" I feel good, I've been walking daily...and it's hard not to think it would be ok to do a little more as long as it doesn't hurt or strain. I hadn't considered possible future problems with adhesions...so that's very good to know. Perhaps I will just stick with the haircut...and let hubby do the rest this week

I was out on very short trips early on. I felt good but was still very careful. My little trips never lasted more than an hour and I always came home, put on lounging clothess (read: something with elastic that didn't cut my belly) and laid around or took a nap. Didn't do 2 days in a row. Still not lifting, bending. Walking a little
Just listen to your body and be careful.
