Including hysterectomy for repair of pelvic floor prolapse. ADVICE?
So here is the quick and simple. I am 32 with really no logically explaination of why this is happening, but I am having prolapse. The best explaination I have been told is it is best to do the hysterectomy, even though I do not have significant utuerine prolapse, so that in the future the utuerus will not fall and destroy the work that has been done. So normally I would go with less is more, but considering the significance of my rectocele and cystocele, the fact I can vaginally palpate my uterus, and Im not obese and have not carried anything in utero Im confidant it is a matter of time until the uterus is falling out. With that said, I have no idea what to do regarding my cervix and ovaries. I also have no idea what to expect. It will be done vaginally and the extent is basically in my hands so I would appreciate any thoughts or advice. I see the doctor in one week to schedule this and I am suppose to have my decision, but I don't really know what to choose. Also a little information on what I can expect would be great. Im not super scared, yet, just ready to get this fixed. I have had such an interruption in my life that Im ready to go crazy. Anyways Id love soem thoughts and thanks!!

Re: Including hysterectomy for repair of pelvic floor prolapse. ADVICE?
I'm probably a bit too new here to reply, but I'll give it a shot anyway. I do believe that if you are doing the procedure vaginally, the cervix must go. I am also 32 and my doc said leave the ovaries if there is no issue with them, so that you won't go into menopause. The rest of your questions, I have no idea about, but someone here will know, this site has been really great for me that past few weeks. I'm so glad I found it.
Good Luck to you.

With a vaginal hystercetomy the cervix is taken as well and normally like Kim said above the ovaries are left if healthy at your age. Write down all your question for your appointment so you can get everything answered. You may wish to have a second opnion with a urogynecologist (someone who specializes in proplapses) or another ob/gyn before you make your decision to get all your concerns addressed. Best of luck to you!

Re: Including hysterectomy for repair of pelvic floor prolapse. ADVICE?
I saw urogyn and I hated the physician. I just had a bad bad experience. I was told by the uro gyn I needed surgery the it was followed by explaining that her surgery schedule was booked for two months. She gave no education or information. She was robotic in her approach. Then some people I work with suggested I see the GYN I am with now and I adore him. He is great! I can ask him anything and he will answer. I guess I just want to know from people that have experienced this what has worked or not worked. He suggested leaving my ovaries for hormone but mentioned nothing about the cervix. I just saw that on this site so I was confused. I have read tons of literature. I have studied research but I just like personal feeling about the surgery. Data is data and it can always be manipulated through bias. Thanks for your thoughts and answers. Kim DJ thank you so much for sharing we are the same age and I am just glad to see Im not the only person dealing with this at 32.
