6 wks post-op 4/13/11

Hi guys, hope everyone is feeling as good as I am. I really have very few complaints about having the surgery. I guess since I felt so miserable before the surgery (had large fibroid pressing on my bladder and had trouble urinating), that I feel like my Dr. is a miracle worker. Anyway, I still get very tired by the afternoon and I'm having trouble sleeping too(but I had insomnia before), I swear I'm getting hot flashes but I still have my ovaries. So I see the Dr. tomorrow and hope to get the go ahead to return to all activities. I'll update after my visit tomorrow.

Glad to hear you are doing well. The insomnia and hot flashes are common at this point in our recovery. It may take some time for your ovaries to wake back up. Hope your appt went well.

Re: 6 wks post-op 4/13/11

Hi Kathy, I had a SAH the day before you. And like you I agree my DR is a miracle worker, I can't believe my period problems are in the past! I haven't experienced any hot flashes but I've been on HRT since last August when it was discovered my ovaries weren't working as they should of been. So I think I've missed many of the hormonal issues others experience because of this.

I will say I still get tired at times, but perhaps needing a nap only half the week (vs. every day). I feel tremendously better this week then I did last and am expecting things to improve from here on. I went back to work after 4 weeks off though my DR warned I would be tired...she was so right! In hindsight the 6 weeks threshold is such an improvement.

I saw her for my 6 week check up and the only restriction I have left is lifting over 15 pounds. She said that would be lifted in 3 more weeks and to continue to be careful until then.

Keep feeling better, I'm right there with you!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to my post. I had my 6 wk. check up this past week and all restrictions were lifted but I can't do abdominal exercises yet (couldn't do them before surgery either! LOL) I feel better than I have in a long time. Hope everyone feels better soon.
