This site has help releive the Pre-Op anxiety!
As with most of you I have gone through being worried and depressed concerning my upcomming TVH and BSO (I think that is right for Total Vaginal Hysterectomy and Bladder Sling).
Reading the posts listed on this site for Pre-Op and Post Op, I am please to say that I now look forward to my trip to the Castle! I feel like my fears and anxiety's are no more than other women facing the surgery. I also feel that I am well informed as to the recovery and post op issues that I will face.
I suffer from 2-3 very heavy cycles per month right now with severe PMS symptoms and pain. This weekend I started again and thought I would die it hurt so bad, then like an epiphany I realized that if all goes well on Wednesday's appointment, this could possibly be the last awful cycle I have to experience! Oh goodness what a wonderful thought!
I have made a nice list of what I should bring with me to the hospital for my 2-3 day stay, and have taken to heart everything that I have read, so my bag will consist of my 2 pillows that I sleep with each night, my own quilt, a comfortable gown, housecoat and slippers, plus shampoo and a toothbrush.
The only item I have not decided on yet is the lap top, I guess it depends on if the hospital has private rooms or if I will have to share with someone else. The only reason I thought about taking it with me is to use as a DVD player in case I have to suffer a horrible room mate who has a sports fanatic of a husband, or has a ton of family and friends who insist on spending hours with them.
Any Ideas on the laptop?
Lady in Waiting,
Kelly

I'd say skip the laptop. It's far too valuable to take to the hospital (and the hosptial will not accept responsiblity for it) I know some princesses take DVD players or CD players, but they're relatively inexpensive and are not that big a deal if you lose it.
From everything I've read, you'll be sleeping most of the time anyway.

I think I agree with you. Even though my DH will be staying in the hospital with me, I would rather be safer than sorry and leave the laptop at home. I will just take advantage of the time to rest. Gosh I hope that I have a private room. Maybe we will spend the extra money to ensure that I do!

I would leave the lap top at home!My hospital wanted me to give my rings to my husband, wanted nothing of value in the room.I was lucky in that my hospital is all private rooms! The first day was just a blur and the second I was ready to go home but Dr. kept me in one more night.
I would add chapstick to that list to take to the hospital! My lips got so dry!
Reading this site calmed my fears before surgery too! Hope you have as good a recovery as I've had.I'm 7 weeks post op.When they say treat yourself like a princess,do it! It goes too fast and it's back to work and taking care of everyone else again!
