which hysterectomy?

I'm skedded for a lap assisted vag hyster in two weeks...now I'm wondering if I should hold out for the full lap surgery, even though the doctor is two and a half hours away...it seems the recovery time would be shorter....I have many fibroids...and would need ovaries removed as there is a history of reproductive cancer, although that is not a concern at this time.

which hysterectomy?

MrsNeito,

Have you had your 2 additional opinions about your surgery? It doesn't sound like you are convinced you are getting the best surgery for you.

It is always a good thing to talk to 2 additional surgeons who are professionally unrelated to the first one. It can help to either convince you that what you have planned is the best for you, or it may serve to give you options you hadn't thought about yet.

About the recovery time. While there may be less incision wise with a laproscopic surgery, you are still having a uterus removed and it still takes about 6 weeks for the initial healing. So, even though you may be feeling better, you will still have restrictions - there are 100's of stitches inside.

S,
Kay
