Question about post-op
Hello all!
My boss has had a hysterectomy a few months ago. And from what she's been telling me, there was hardly any pain, swelling, a little discomfort. She was back at work one week after the hysterectomy.
I've been reading this site for the past 2 days and from i saw, she must have been the exception to the rule.
Am i foolish to think i will be up and about 1 week after?
I was feeling comfortable with the thought of having the surgery from what she was telling me. But now that i read other peoples stories on here, i'm not so comfortable anymore...lol
Btw...my surgery is scheduled for 10/30/2007.

Question about post-op
It all depends on what you are having done. My Dr. said my recovery is 8-12 weeks. Lots of reconstruction and support being done also. Look into recovery times for your type specifically. And then still, everyone is different. How did your Dr. say it would go? Thats more important. Good luck with it and enjoy the time being pampered afterward. Dont be so quick to rush back to work!

Question about post-op
Hi I haven't scheduled mine yet but started talking about it at work for advice and experiences from people who have gone through it. I have noticed that some people cant help saying how they didn't need that much time in hosp, or pain meds, or time off work, I think just in case I might heaven forbid take too much time off work, complain too much or stay longer in hosp. I don't know we are all different and it takes different time and medication to heal. I hope everything goes wonderful for you.

Question about post-op
Hello, ChiefsChick! It is definitely important to keep in mind that each person is different - we all heal at different rates, have different reactions to medications, have different pain thresholds. Please don't feel pressured into being back in a week just because your boss was! Her situation could have been vastly different from yours. The 2 best things you can do are listen to your doctor - he/she knows your individual situation and will be able to advise you of what will be best for YOU; also listen carefully to your body - it will tell you what you can and cannot handle. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Question about post-op
Thanks for the well wishes all :-)
I am pretty confident in my doctor and think he's the best. So, i guess i'll keep that in mind, prepare myself as best as i can (thanks to you all on here) and hopefully it all works out for the best.
