LAVH: Pre-op Appt tomorrow. Scared and nervous

Hi everyone,
I am getting super nervous. Tomorrow is my pre-op appt. I am trying to get all my questions I want to ask written out. My surgery is just a week away!! Anyone have any ideas of questions I should ask or things I should know before my appt and surgery? Any extra help would be great!!!

I would suggest first of all praying to calm the nervousness down.(Psalm 91) I realized that my life is in Gods hands that the surgery have to be done and there is no way around it so I asked the lord to be with me throughout the whole thing. I was also, the week before my surgery, scared and doing all kinds of research on the internet which made my fears worse so don't fall into that. We have to remember that a hysterectomy is a common procedure and technology has dramatically improved since our grandmothers era. I had my LAVH on June 22nd and everything went great! I pray the same for you.

I would reccommend before surgery to stock up on post-surgery foods like soft fruits, steamed vegetables(excluding gas producing) canned or homemade chicken soup, prune juice, coconut water, whole grain breads & cereals.

I wouldn't rush into pre-surgery diet because your bowels can be a little sluggish after surgery so you want to keep the engine flowing and not clog it up. My doc put me on a no carb and protein with vegetable diet for a week. I'm just now introducing a little carb because I've lost weight and don't want to get any smaller. I've also started drinking ensure in addition to my meals for added calories.
