Short trip 13 days Post-op?

My niece is getting married Tuesday and it will take just short of two hours to get there. It is going to be an outdoor wedding and reception in east Texas (projected 97 degrees). I told her before my surgery that I probably wouldn't be able to come, but my recovery has been much easier than I expected, so I'm thinking of going now. My trip to the doctor this week didn't bother me, other than tiring me out. The car ride was fine…of course, it was just a 25 minute drive. I don't want to do anything to cause a setback, but my husband and I helped raise this girl when she was young and I really hate to miss her wedding. I can spend most of my time resting in my sisters house and only go outside for the actual wedding. My husband would like to come back home after the wedding, but has agreed to stay at my parent's house if the drive down and wedding has been too much for me.

Has anyone taken a short trip at about 2 weeks post-op and if so, how did it go? At this point I'm taking it day by day and would appreciate any advice.

For me, I'm not sure I would want all the hours in the car unless you can recline the seat to stretch out your torso & legs. And, definitely prepare with medication in advance. It's a special day so I can understand why you'd want to go.

Thanks for the link. I will be able to recline and stretch out…as long as I don't get car sick. I'm probably going to go, but will wait until I see how I'm feeling Tuesday before making my final decision. In the meantime, I have to try to find something to wear…I'm not sure what I can fit over this swelly belly.
