Is everyone walking like an elderly person?

I cant seem to get myself to stand up straight and walk like I have ostoperosis. It doesnt really hurt to try to stand up straighter...just seems I cant. My back hurts most of the time all the way across the middle around my ribcage now everyday. I guess its from all the lying down.

Is everyone walking like an elderly person?

Yes!! So have I. I have had such back pain that I called my friend, he's a chiropractor, to see when I could get in to see him. He said he would try to do a little something late next week but would have to be really, really gentle. My back hurts more than the rest of me. I have been walking everyday, sitting in the recliner, laying in bed so I don't know what it is from.

I did too for a while. But I got one of those back pain patches (walmart) and slapped it on and the pain went away quick.

I was walking funny for a week - until my Doctor saw me and said "STOP IT! Nothing is going to fall out. And you really need to straighten up otherwise you will heal that way and then you will have trouble later."

Is everyone walking like an elderly person?

I am laughing so hard reading your post. My kids have been calling me Grandpa since I got home because I am all slumped over when I walk! They must be so afraid that this is the way I will continue to walk that everyday after school the first thing they ask me is "Can you walk better today Mom?" It really doesn't hurt to stand up straight but I am afraid I will rip something. I have been doing better though!! Thanks for the laugh.

LOL! Been there, done that. Laughing as I read this. I was walking slower than my mom who is 87 and walks with a cane. It passed as the days went on.

Is everyone walking like an elderly person?

I love that someone brought this up. Three weeks in and I'm finding that the seniors that walk up and down my street to the convenience store have a better pace. Posture is ok. I think we beat that with the steady use of the heating pad on my back. But boy am I a turtle. I have no stamina. I have made two (shhhh...dont tell my doc. He thinks I'm still in bed) trips to the store...three doors down from here and by the time I would get from point A to point B I was all cramped up. Walking home would take on an even slower pace. I keep wondering when my stride will come back. I feel like a geriatric orphan.

Now that I read the replies I am laughing. I guess we can call ourselves Hunchbacks . I caught myself in the mirror as I walked by and looked terrible hunched over. My pain seems to be after I've been standing for awhile.

Is everyone walking like an elderly person?

My daughter says I walk like a pregnant woman, or in other words, like a duck, when I'm hurting. I shuffled around Big Lots the other day.
I'm heading into week #4 and finding that it feels good to stand up straight and walk a little bit.

So funny Sharnjean. We have the same surgery date and my husband happens to work for a Big Lots. You're not in Jersey, are you?
