its finally over......
Well, I can't believe it...but it is finally over!
I had my LSH on March 21st (sorry for the delay in posting....been away from my computer). I feel GREAT! I knew I felt bad before...but I guess I never realized how much it kept me down.
My surgery went great! And as soon as I woke up...I knew it was worth it....I could tell I was feeling better already...despite the post-op pain and stuff. I really didn't have too much pain at all. I was even able to walk from the gurney to my bed in the hospital room when they transferred me upstairs...only an hour after surgery. I took my first pain pill like 6 or 7 hours after surgery and another the next day...though my pain level never reached above a 4 or 5 on the pain scale. I was amazed at how good I felt. I was even up walking the hospital floor about 4 or 5 hours after surgery....and it didnt feel bad at all. I was careful though....i knew (and still know) not to overdo it even if I feel good.
Once home, I haven't needed any pain meds other than ibuprofen. I have rested appropriately, but have been up and able to do things with my kids, as well. It has been an amazing recovery so far!
I am even going to try to venture out of the house today.....for a short time!
I am so glad this is all finally on a path to a happy time for me.....thanks so much for everyones help and support.....I could not have done it without all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will keep you posted
Take care and good luck to all,

Great to hear you had such a good experience, too! My experience was much like yours, except for the walking to the bed I did walk as soon as they took out the cath the next day...I was chugging the halls! I knew that it was important, and there really wasn't a reason not to.
I rarely used my pain meds at home, either. I did use them to help me sleep mostly. I was never down long...I was fussed at by hubby and kids because I wouldn't just sit in my recliner! I did find from time to time that I did overdo it, and believe me, when you do, your body will let you know loud and clear!
I am 2 months and 4 days post op, and except for some bowel/stomach issues (and killer PMS) I feel great!
Here's to even more success!

its finally over......
Well, I had my surgery 3 and a half weeks ago. I had an LSH and kept my cervix and ovaries. I have seen many questions about keeping the cervix...and here is my input...When I asked my doctor beforehand about the possibility of mini-periods...she said they are very rare and she could decrease the possibility even more by cauterizing the lining of the cervix. So I agreed. It hasnt been very long for me. I have recovered completely and have been back to work since week 2. I have a very physically demanding job in a hospital and I feel I have returned to 100% by now! I feel great...even better than before! I think I had a cycle last week....because I got pretty emotional, like I did with my cycle before. But so far, no bleeding at all. I haven't even had any spotting since about 3 hours after the surgery. I think my doc did great and together we made all the right choices for me! I have been able to return to having sex as well and I still feel my orgasms as strong as ever, which I also attribute to my cervix....the muscle of the cervix is what pulsates during orgasm, I think. I feel like being able to keep the cervix and having the LSH as a surgery option were so perfect...fast recovery and I feel like a whole new woman! I feel like there was no contest between the choices...The only negative part that I could come up with for keeping the cervix was that I still have the possibilty of cervical cancer, which I am at a low risk for. Though I would need paps each year to watch for the cancer.
I hope and pray that all of you can come to the right decisions for you as well...and i hope my experience can answer some questions or maybe help you to come up with some for you!
Good luck to all of you.

I'm happy for your wonderful outcome, Kraut. I had a TAH Dec. 15th and have been feeling great, too! And, I'm happy to report I've been cycling, too.
