I'm 3.5 weeks post op, too!

Hi Everyone,
I had my TAH on 1/23, and at week 3.5, I am just starting to feel better - part of the time. I was so thankful to find this site, because the information I received from my doctor, as well as at the hospital was really limited. At least after find Hystersisters, I felt I wasn't so alone. I was released on day three in the "castle", and with my only bathroom upstairs, I was a bit of a prisoner for the first two weeks. I had severe adhesions on the left ovary that fully connected to the pelvis wall. Because of this, my doctor wanted me to stay as quite as possible for the first two weeks - with walks around the second floor. I felt like I had been run over by a freight train the first week. Because I am allergic to all painkillers, I was limited to 600 mills of ibuprophen per 6 hrs. By the end of week two, I could get down the stairs and stay upright for a bit - but my stomach hurt, and I felt pulling and burning. My doctor said this was notice to lay down. So - even now, each time I feel that pulling - I take it as a signal that I need to rest. I am also experiencing the bladder discomforts, as well as bowel discomforts, but my doctor says this is not unusual -- that there was a great deal of work done to "break up" the adhesions, and the natural pull of gravity on the organs left make it uncomfortable while everything settles. He said to keep a journal until the 6 week checkup unless I really get crazy with those symptoms. I'm hoping that in week four, things will calm down, and the burning and pulling (which is from the internal stitches) will minimize. I see postings here where these things can continue for months, so I'm trying to keep positive! It's great to have this environment to share our experiences, because I certainly don't feel as "desperate". Thanks to all you brave sisters that have posted before me!
