Constant Bleeding POST OP

Today is day 14 post op.

Two days ago, I started bleeding.

I was up on my feet for about an hour, doing very, very minor things. No heavy lifting, etc....

to my surprise, I had a lot of abdominal aching that afternoon, and started bleeding.

The bleeding is light, but constant.
About 3 pads a day.

Everything was removed during surgery.

Scheduled for my post op appt on Monday, Nov 21.

Wondering if I need to call and see if I can get in sooner?

Really, did my very light wiping the counters, straightening pillows, etc.... hurt me?? At almost 2 weeks post op??

So frustrated.

Re: Constant Bleeding POST OP

I bled hard and heavy after doing nothing. Sit down and quit moving I sat for 3 straight days and it stopped.

Bleeding can happen for the full 6 weeks! As long as you have no major new pain, fever or more than a pad an hour you're probably fine.

Re: Constant Bleeding POST OP

Hi Grace! Believe me, we all understand your frustration!!

My procedure was on the 21st, went the whole first week without a mark on the panty liner! I was thrilled. Halloween, went for a walk. Came home to find a quarter size blood spot! ????? I've been spotting/bleeding ever since!

Some days are heavier than others.

I am not a doctor, but I found if I really rest and sit with my legs up, the bleeding does stop. No cleaning counters or anything.

I lost 2 stitches on Tuesday! I was so afraid because I really didn't do anything at all!!!??? I was told to really take it easy. I've been in bed since and the bleeding has completely stopped. My point is, rest should help!!

If you bleed so much that you fill a pad in under an hour, please call your doctor. That could mean a bigger problem. Or, call for your own peace of mind, but sounds to me like you just need to sit still for a bit.

Isn't this fun?? Lol.....

NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Feel better and take care of yourself!!!

Re: Constant Bleeding POST OP

Grace

Sorry to hear you are spotting / bleeding.

The general rule is if you are soaking a pad an hour you need to seen ASAP.

It could be that a combination of increased activity and dissolving stitches have caused the bleeding. You might have an area that wasn't totally healed when a stitch dissolved.

If it puts your mind at ease call your dr as a safety measure.

The post op articles and hysterectomy checkpoints will give you light activity things to do so you can compare what you've been doing.
