Hi Cathy,

Warmed prime juice works like a charm . Used 1/2 c. In a.m. And 1/2 c. In pm. Tried 1 c. Each time and that was pretty powerful.

Best of success.

Mirilax worked! Might try the prune juice, though.

Re: One week post hysterectomy: Rough Weekend

I've had problems with constipation since I was a little girl. I can remember my momma giving me
Enemas and making me drink prune juice ! Ugh I t was awful! Anyway! I was terrified that I would get constipated again, well I did... Saturday would have been a week. So I took a reg dose of
Milk of magnesium and it worked within 4hours ( very smoothly) sorry for tmi! I was so relieved!
No pain! I have also been eating very light since I've been home too! I do have IBS as well.
I hope this helps you !

Re: One week post hysterectomy: Rough Weekend

Same here. From what I was told, hyst recovery is like 2 steps forward, one step back. I also suffer from IBS. (Hoping it'll be better now once everything I think was pressing on things is gone.) Had to take some Senokot over the weekend to get things moving -- and increase my water intake. (I've never been good about water drinking.)

One thing that I think is helping me is getting back on my probiotics. (I take Enzymatic Therapy's Pearls IC.) I take a hefty dose of probiotics all the time -- had stopped about a week before surgery. Started up again this weekend and it is working wonders. Might be worth looking into.

Re: One week post hysterectomy: Rough Weekend

I am 7 days post op. I had da Vinci abdominal and I kept both ovaries. I hate that it's painful for some! My Dr recommended Miralax. I use it once a day. You just mix it with 8oz liquid. It has no taste and worked great. I didn't have to do any pushing which I was scared to do. Hope this helps 😀

Re: One week post hysterectomy: Rough Weekend

I know Percocet causes constipation but I was thinking Vicodin (which I'm taking) didn't. I looked it up, and it does. I have cut way down on the use this week. I am feeling better today, going a bit at a time & not feeling like there's an elephant on my stomach. I'm going to continue eating the bran cereal & taking my husband's stool softener/laxative.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem!
