recovery question--how long until I can do email?

I'm scheduled for a TVH, and I'm trying to plan my medical leave. A portion of my job is done entirely by email and can be done from home, and it is about 8 hours a week scheduled at my own convenience. If I take two weeks completely off, will I be able to resume computer and email work on this part-time basis during the third week?

We're keeping it open-ended, but I'd like to have a sense of what to expect for myself, even if I officially take more time.

Thanks,
Chris

recovery question--how long until I can do email?

hi chris,

i found that after my tash bso that it took me almost 3 weeks before i felt i could sit up good enough to be at the computer (even the laptop). when i did start back, i found i could only do 30-60 minutes at a time for the first few days.
'course, every body is different, and youre having tvh instead of tah, so you may feel ok after 2 weeks. just llisten to your body and take care of you - you only have 1 chance to heal right.

many blessings as you travel to the castle and with your recovery afterwards!

recovery question--how long until I can do email?

Hi,

I had a LSH 6 wks ago. I was up an on my laptop within a couple of days.
By two weeks I would think you would have no problems.

recovery question--how long until I can do email?

I had a complicated LAVH on Oct 21 so my 3 week point will be coming up this Tuesday. I checked emails about 4 days after the surgery. I believe you could do emails easily if you had a tray stand to put the laptop on. If it is not a laptop, then I would expect by week 2 you could sit at a desk with a pillow behind your back and maybe one in front of your abdomen and do emails. In general, ladies who have vaginal hysterectomies seem like they are doing pretty good by week 2. I sit on the sofa and put a pile of large sofa pillows beside me and put the laptop on the pillows and turn the laptop facing me. I believe you will find, if everything goes smoothly with the surgery, an hour a day on the computer will be OK.

Good luck!

recovery question--how long until I can do email?

My TVH w/A&P was 12 HOURS ago! But I'm just posting couple of messages to the board...

Not sure how long to spend serious time at a computer.

I'll be happy to let you know as I move through recovery though!

recovery question--how long until I can do email?

Hi Chris!

I do office work mostly out of a "home office"setting and after my complication-free TAH/BSO, I started slowly easing back into some work duties at about ten days post-op. Doing so helped to make me feel more "normal" and certainly was a welcome relief from laying in bed surfing through various daytime TV talk shows and other boring sedentary activities.

Please remember to "listen to your body" and (in partnership and consultation with your medical provider) take every opportunity for the best recovery possible.

Many s and Best Wishes,

recovery question--how long until I can do email?

This is a great question for me. My work isn't from home but I'll go bonkers if I can't play on the computer to pass the time. Even my books are on the computer. Actually, I just realized I have nothing to read in the hospital - I need to download a couple of books, yikes! I meant to purchase a couple light "real" books, but forgot in the hectic last few days.
