Do I need HRT?

I am 8 months post op. No HRT and have plenty of desire but the pain in unbearable. My husband feels like hes hurting me. Does it get better or should I go back on HRT?

Where does it hurt?
I was hurting when we had sex in different positions, other than missionary. We just have to do it gently for a few months, even if we get the "green light" in a month.
I think when we do it in different positions, my DH's penis runs into the vaginal cuff.
