Rectocele after TVH??

i had my LAVH in 2003 and another surgery in 2004,then 5 months later i noticed a bulge in the vagina... i went to the dr. he said it was a rectocele and to have surgery.. i had surgery on the 12 of august and they did a cyctocele (very tiny and a rectocele grade 3 ) repair and it wasn't easy at all, although i had a ton of scar tisse from all of the pelvic surgeries i had 7 all in all! plus i think every surgery is harder and harder on our bodies.. and i have read that the rectocele surgery is pretty bad.. i hope i'm not worrying you just trying to prepare you..IF YOU HAVE IT DONE TAKE IT EASY,DON'T SIT TOOO LONG,DON'T STAND TOO LONG LAY DOWN AS MUCH AS POSSIABLE!! THE SWEELING INSIDE CAN BE PRETTY BAD!! NEVER,NEVER GET CONSTAPAITED,TAKE THEM STOOL SOFTNERS, AND DRINK A TON OF WATER... GOOD LUCK AND KEEP US POSTED!

Rectocele after TVH??

Thank you Coffeelover. I really need to hear what to expect. When I had the A&P repairs with the hysterectomy I was so uncomfortable in so many places I didn't know what pain was due to what part of the surgery. You have helped me have some sort of an idea what to expect. Thanks again, will keep you posted.

Rectocele after TVH??

I had a tav in 2003 and now have a rectocyle but am holding off having an operation. My gyn said I am small and that the surgery would make the vagina smaller, so he thought I should just wait until it's too much trouble. If and when I have it, he will slit the vagina from the vaginal opening and put in support in the wall between the vagina and the rectum. He said that the recovery would be about a week and I would experience about the same feeling/pain as with an episiotomy.

I am having lots of back pain. I wasn't sure that the rectocyle was the cause, but from what you all say, sounds like it could be.
