Yeast infection, anyone?!

Well after everything else I have found out that my body will react to due to surgery, I now have a yeast infection. Calling the dr in the morning.
I have found it quite remarkable what the human body does to say, " You have messed with me for 2.5 hours, deal with this!"

Re: Yeast infection, anyone?!

My surgery was on 3/3/09 and I have had a UTI for almost a month, 4 kidney stones and on my third round of antibiotics. Yeast infection is alost an after thought with all of the rest of this. Go back to doc on wednesday.

Re: Yeast infection, anyone?!

My heart goes out to all of you. Glad to know I am not the only one. I have been drinking Cranberry juice of some kind for two+ weeks hoping to avoid the bladder infection. My Mom is a nurse and gave me a couple of heads up things. I called her today and teased her about not remembering the yeast infection.
I haven't had one of these in a long long long time.

I got the prescription today and hope relief is coming!
Waiting to see what week 3 brings . . . .

Re: Yeast infection, anyone?!

I had a terrible yeast infection start a few days after surgery. I thought I had taken care of it with really good cleaning of the area and taking acidophilus (what I ususally do). My doc told me at my post op appt that I had a raging infection and put me on an oral med. It helped. The itching/burning is gone. No one warned me that I'd get yeastie-beasties! At least it's over.

Re: Yeast infection, anyone?!

I learned last year after an oral surgery that really strong antibiotics will give me a yeast infection.

So after about a week and antibodies after this surgery (03/24) I felt the onset of one and called my GYN immediately. She prescribed a cream which worked quickly. I din't want to wait too long and go through the hell I did last year (didn't know what was wrong with me then, as I had never had one before).

Some people suggest just plain old yogurt as well. I think it also may help to change the pad more often even if your spotting is minimal at this point, to keep you "dryer"...and more comfortable.

Hang in there!!! It's perfectly normal thing that can happen and you are not alone.

so funny when i saw this post as i JUST took my 3rd diflucan in 3 weeks!!!!!
i was on heavy antibiotics for a bacterial infection (reason for my total hysterectomy) saw my doc yesterday and apparently the yeastie beastie is STILL there!

Re: Yeast infection, anyone?!

Do we get yeast infections after everything was removed?
I have a strange, thick, but odorless discharge 8 weeks after the surgery.
I did not think my body could make secretions there anymore?
Do I need to clean that area out every so often? I was never told anything about this.....
Do we still make moisture down there after everything was removed or what happens?
My doc did not tell me a thing!
Thank you!
