if you get bladder infection post op.....make sure to get rechecked!!!

Everyone,
I developed a bladder infection three days after surgery. Was put on Cipro for 7 days. Doctor never rechecked urine after finished Cipro.

I am 6 weeks post op and feeling awful this past weekend with a fever of 103. I have developed a Kidney infection because the Cipro did NOT kill off all baceria. This could have been prevented.

Please I can't stress this enough.....if you have a bladder infection post op...demand to get it rechecked after you finish medicine........

Hugz!!!

You make me feel I'm not stupid for getting my symptoms checked out today. Yesterday I felt like I was dying. Today not so much, but we're going out of town and don't want to be dying.

Absolutely! I had a UTI in the Hospital and left with a prescription of Bactrim, finished meds and all seemed okay. Last week at 7 weeks post op I had a repeat infection, The 1st infection was likely not totally killed, this time after antibiotics I was checked and its gone. Good advice to others.

I can totally relate. I started on macrobid, then ended up in the er. There they gave me rocephine and sent me home with levaquin. Found out Thursday I am allergic to it and the dr said that I should be fine. OH no 101 fever and bladder spasms to bring me to my knees. Now I am on doxycycline and still there is no stopping the spasms. I feel for you totally! I hope you are feeling better really soon!! Hugs!!
