5.5 weeks post-op...SAH...Blood

Hi Ladies,

I will be 6 weeks post-op as of this coming Tuesday. I just noticed blood from my vagina when I wiped. It was more than just a slight streaking that I noticed at the 2-3 week mark...Is blood normal? It's not flowing, just some on a tissue. TIA

Some bleeding/spotting around the 4th or 5th week is normal. It is most likely your internal stitches dissolving. If you are not filling up a pad an hour or having severe pain, you should be fine. If you are concerned, a call to your doctor would give you peace of mind.

Thanks! I have a little bit of soreness, but not severe pain.

Hi Super Stina, if you have your ovaries and your cervix you might be having a "mini period". I get them and they are so light all I see is a little blood on the toilet tissue monthly. Would this have been the time for your period?

Rather than dissolving stitches since you don't have a vaginal cuff, your bleeding may be related to remaining endometrial lining shedding in response to your hormones. It may not continue past the first few months, or it may be monthly and what was referred to as a mini period by ((ShatziLKF)).

You might want to check with your doctor to be sure all is well, especially if you find you have more symptoms. Also, some offer some options for helping with the bleeding if it does turn out to be a mini period.
