Almost 4 months post hysterectomy and feeling exhausted.
I had a no problem laparoscopic procedure, kept my ovaries. I am just finding myself so exhausted and as a teacher am having a hard time keeping up with my work load. I exercise daily and make sure to eat healthy. Is it being 56 or is it common to be feeling this way this far into recovery? It is starting to make me very emotional and frustrated. I've been strong and now feel like I am falling apart.

Re: Almost 4 months post-op and feeling exhausted.
Hello, it has nothing to do with your age, I had my surgery July 27, I am a second grade teacher, and before the school day is over I am worn out. When I leave work all I want to do is shower and go to bed . My energy level is not what it use to be . I believe it's common.

It's common. My surgeon told me that his patients reported dealing with fatigue for a year. I laughed. I'm 40! No way! That won't be me!
Yeah. It's been me. After months of feeling great, I got a silly little head cold and that knocked me flat on my behind.
Hang in there - it gets better. Pushing through doesn't help - rest when you can.

Fatigue may linger, it may come & go..During recovery, Ive noticed fatigue improve & then appear again. The body is still healing. Reduced hormones may contribute to fatigue. Thyroid, iron deficiency, hormones, + Feel better.

Re: Almost 4 months post hysterectomy and feeling exhausted.
I'm 4&1/2 months surgery and also a teacher and still feeling exhausted at times. I work in special ed in a high school setting. Some days I'' good but other days all I want to do is crash on the lounge as soon as I get home. I'm exercising to keep fit and in shape as well as boosting energy levels but honestly it takes a lot of energy to get there. A friend of mine who had LAH a week after me is feeling the same. Think it will take s while to get completely over it.

Almost 4 months post hysterectomy and feeling exhausted.
I second everything Mindy says. I do a job which is quite physical and I can tell you it took 9 months before the fatigue ended. It did get less and less but was still there at 9 months. Good news is that 11 months on I am starting to feel energy levels are like normal. Hang in there and DO rest when you need to :-)

Re: Almost 4 months post hysterectomy and feeling exhausted.
The body is still healing + reduced hormones-estrogen contributes to fatigue. Get a full lab work up checking hormones, thyroid 3 tests, iron. If you have bone/joint pains too, then check for C-reactive protein 2 tests checks heart, autoimmune like arthritis, ulcerative colitis & check inflammation in the body. If its hormones, talk to your Dr about HRT or natural remedies like Soy. The body does need protein to heal. Eat healthy, hydrate well, exercise.

Re: Almost 4 months post hysterectomy and feeling exhausted.
I am so glad to have found this group!! I have been exhausted for the last few months .. Lack of sex drive ... I am about 7 months post op, just recently had a cold and it knocked me on my butt for almost three weeks!
Tell me it gets better .. I'm only 44!
