Could surgery have damaged my liver?

I am 10 weeks post op and went to see my primary at my gyns request since I am still severely swollen and he can't figure out why,I also have fibromyalgia. My blood work came in with a high alt level at 54 & have to go in for further testing on my liver. My blood work was tested twice before surgery. And my liver was in normal levels. Could my surgery damaged my liver?

I don't think it was from the surgery itself, but perhaps from the stress the body goes thru during and after surgery. I had very high liver enzymes a few years after my surgery. My doctor put me on silymarin<milk thistle> which I have taken ever since, my liver enzymes have been normal ever since. I think my high levels could be atrributed to being on pain meds for such a long time pre and post surgery.

Thank you! I'm on a lower level of pain meds now and fewer, but really scared me!
