Abdominal pain post op 5 months

It's been about 5 months since my TAH/BSO. Healing has been textbook progress, and after the go-ahead from my doctor to resume normal activities, I've been back at the gym every other day, and doing Tai Chi 2x/week. I've been very happy. However, recently, I have experienced this abdominal pain in my lower right groin area. It's intermittent and feels like a cramp in an organ. Standing or sitting or lying down doesn't make a difference. I urinate frequently, which is normal for me, therefore I do not get a good night's sleep of the recommended 7-8 hours. I have no idea what is going on now. I will be seeing my doctor this afternoon. It may not be related to my hysterectomy, but one wants to blame it on the "H" word.

Has anyone else felt something similar? What did you discover?

What did you find out from your doctor? I hope the issue is a simple one to resolve!

Hi......I am 5 weeks post- op and had the urge to urinate frequently accompanied by really low abdominal pain. No fever. Was diagnosed with a UTI. Glad you're seeing your doctor. Be well.

Re: Abdominal pain post op 5 months--followup

Hello Sisters,

Thank you for your responses. I apologize for the delay in writing back about my followup w/doctor, but I forget to check this account.

Basically, my doctor authorized an xray of the area. Results showed nothing unusual, other than fecal blockage. He recommended I be on a stool softener and laxative program for about 1 week. I did that and things felt better. BUT...just today, I felt the same "cramping/pressure" in the same area again. I don't know what to think. However, if the xrays show nothing to worry about, then I will just not worry. But I will monitor myself.

Let me know how you are progressing

Re: Abdominal pain post op 5 months

I can totally relate to you. I am having similar issues with my bowels. I did just finish taking an antibiotic for a UTI and just my need more time for this area to get back to normal. I just got off the phone with an RN (support line) and she suggested that I try plain yogurt (not flavored) which is a natural probiotic. Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel and we'll see relief soon. Feel better and take care.

Re: Abdominal pain post op 5 months

I am just at 7 weeks and I have this same issue. I know mine is from jumping back into my activities too soon. Unfortunately, my DR agreed with me. oh well. I will just do one activity and then rest.

I have found I am still struggling with my bowels as well. I am going but still rely on a laxative at least once a week to feel completely empty. (TMI???)

I eat yogurt daily anyway. I am going to try the proboitic stuff. I never even thought of that!! I love this site. It is the only thing keeping me sane right now.

I hear ya! Along with the bowel issue I've noticed that when I do finally go, the odor is horrendous! It's a hey you need a gas mask on type of odor.
