TAH Can't stop sneezing & it hurts !!!

Something has stirred up my allergies & I've been sneezing non stop. It hurts so bad, even with the pillow. Took my Zrytec but it isn't working. When does sneezing & coughing stop hurting?

My sneezing hurt about 5 weeks or more. My allergies flared up after surgery and the sneezing was horrible. If your regular allergy meds aren't working I'd call your doc asap and get a prescription for something else. Sneezing could possibly rip a stitch. You'd have to ask your doctor if you are past that point in recovery though, as I am not sure how long post op it takes for that issue to be behind you.

Here's a hint that may help you avoid the pain that comes with sneezing. In fact, it should help avoid the sneeze completely. When you feel a sneeze coming on, using your index finger press on the bottom of your nose between your nostrils. Press upwards and as closely as you can to your face. I did this after my hysterectomy and it actually surpressed the sneezee every time. Hope it works for you.

Oh my goodness! When I first sneezed I thought I was going to come completely unglued! Literally! IT hurt so bad. Hang in there!

Maybe ask your doctor if there is something you can add to your zyrtec for a little while... don't do this without his input though.

Thanks everyone. I took 2 Benadryls last night to help me sleep. This morning I am soooo sore. Can't stay in bed all day because my daughter chipped her front tooth (permanent) & I have to take her to the dentist. I take Alleges, a nasal spray & I rotate between Segregate & Alleges so unfortunately I can't take anything else.

Catherine, thanks for the tip but so far this morning it's not working. Since surgery I've been able to kinda hold the sneeze in but it's not working. I hope I haven't damaged anything. Other than spotting or bleeding how do you know if you've torn a stitch because I am really sore.

Have you asked your Dr if you can take Singulair? It's an immune stabilizer, so it doesn't conflict with meds you take to control allergy symptoms. It takes a while to help, so you might be past the sneezing hurts stage before it starts to work.

I hate auto spell. It should say I take Singular, a nasal spray & rotate between Allegra. & Zrytec. I'm still sore but my trip to the dentist actually stopped my sneezing. I think I just needed a change of scenary.
