I Got A Little Help..

Hey Ya'll..
It's me again. I'm now 16 and I still have endomitriosis. To tell you though, it's actually gotten a little better. I went to every doctor we could think of in the state of Texas, or well you could say a medical doctor. Now I'm seeing this naturalist doctor. He's been great. Instead of bleeding 24/7, every day of the week, every week of the year...I have actually stopped bleeding for over 3 weeks now. My migraines have lessened, and my hormones are getting back in wack, as my doctor calls it. I have been through everything with all the other doctors. I been on the Lupron shot, put me through menapause, and everything. With this naturalist doctor, all I'm doing is taking natural herbs for medicine, which is working with my body to fix me. Hopefully it works, pray for me. If ya'll do need any information on this, I'll be happy to help out. And if anyone knows of anything else I can do that is working for ya'll please help me. I'm desperate for anything. It hurts to be only 16, and having all your friends turn against you because of an illness...

Thanks again,
Stefanie

I Got A Little Help..

Stef
I was diagnosed with endometriosis about 5 years ago and it was no picnic. I have had two surgeries for it and now I am just fed up with the pain and irregular periods that a hysterectomy is the way out for me. I can't wait until no more kotex. I hope that your new treatments work as you are very young.

I Got A Little Help..

Hi Stef! I have read some of your other posts and am so glad to hear the naturalist approach is helping you! I feel for you being so young and struggling with endometriosis! I also have it and have struggled for the last six years, going from doctor to doctor, being sent off to a psychiatrist, and trying eons of birth control pills and lupron. Mine didn't really start bothering me until I was 27 though. I ended up moving in with my boyfriend this year for fear of losing yet another job from missing so much work. I totally understand your frustration. Finally I had a hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries 3 1/2 weeks ago. Though I feel a lot better now, I am already worried that the endo left behind is going to get worse soon. I can feel that familiar pulling feeling just above my pubic bone, like someone pulling your hair, that I had all the time prior to the hyst. It just started yesterday. My doctor put me on estrogen replacement right away so I wouldn't have to deal with menopause so young but now I am wondering if I will have to go off of it in the near future. If I do go off the estrogen replacement, I will have to risk osteoporosis which runs in my family big time. The battle never seems to end. You are so smart for trying every possible avenue to treat the endometriosis before resorting to a hysterectomy. It isn't the cure all for endo that's for sure. I really wish there were more endo specialists out there and that health insurance would cover seeing them, even if out of state! It would be easy to tell you that if you do decide to have a hysterectomy to find a surgeon willing to remove all the endo as well but there aren't very many surgeons skilled or willing enough to find it all and remove it from places like your bladder, intestines, appendix, rectum, etc...

I admire your courage and strength to keep trying! I wish I could offer more suggestions for you but I just don't have any right now. I have heard that there is a special diet for people with endometriosis to follow. You can find more information by going to a website called www.endo-resolved.com and then click on the side bar that says "Diet and Endo". I know that for me avoiding certain foods has helped my symptoms somewhat, such as avoiding diary products (drink lactose free or soy milk instead), fried or fatty foods, most meat, all fast food, caffeine and chocolate.

Keep your chin up and keep fighting! You are so worth it! And always feel free to keep visiting the hystersisters. This site is so awesome when you are feeling alone and need understanding. Best wishes to you!

HI Stef

I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better and on the right track to finding something that will help you with your endo.

Here is an interesting article about using Natural progesterone to help treat endo.

I hope you continue to do well.

Stefanie,

I KNOW how you feel. Being alienated by your friends because of endo. It is so unfair that some of us have to go through this and have "friends" that can't care enough to try and understand what we go through.

Especially being 16, for me at that age I had problems not only because of missing school and work, but missing out on slumber parties and such. That was what pushed my friends away. I think they thought I didn't like them or give a darn that it was their birthdays and such. I never really tried to explain my pain and go much into detail about my situation with them. To this day, I wish I had.

I have a friend that I've known for 24 years. She was my neighbor and I went through school with her. She recently told me that if she had known what I was going through, we could have been so much closer than we were. She thought I didn't want to hang with her!! She was suffering with some of the same problems I had, though she hasn't been diagnosed with endo, and we could have helped each other if I had only confided in her why I couldn't make it to her house on so many occasions.

The reason I'm sharing this with you is because I would hate for you to make the same mistakes I did. If you have a girlfriend that seems to WANT to be there for you, who is exactly your type of friend and you both enjoy each other's company, I think it's worth the risk to share your problems with her. She may not understand, but you might be surprised and find out that you aren't the only one coping with something like endo. What I'm saying is, if you have someone you were great friends with and recently estranged from because of your health issues-it's really worth another try. Don't go into ALL the gory details unless you feel she would understand, but share enough so that she knows you want to participate in things-but can't always.

I wish I had realized that it wasn't something to be ashamed of or that I wasn't the only one way back then. Life could have been so much more fun in school!

Anywho-just wanted to offer some advice. I hope your troubles continue to improve and I agree that you should look into trying Natural Progesterone Cream to help with your symptoms. It takes time, but can really help a LOT.

Best wishes...
