Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Started with generic estradiol 0.1 mg/day but got allergic to the material that the patch was made with... Now taking the brand version of it Climara 0.1 mg/day (estrogen only)... 6 weeks post-op now... I might make changes in HRT to have more energy...

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I started on .05 Estradiol patch ( $5.00 for 4 patches) At my two week post-op visit I got bumped up to .075. My Doc gave me a 5 patch box of Climara to try. Call the dr's office today to get a prescription. I have to use mail order with our insurance so I asked for a 90 day and a 1 month prescription as sometimes the insurance company's pharmacy is slow. They gave me the 90 day prescription and another 5 patch box of Climara. When I get my 90 prescription it will be a generic brand and will cost me $10.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Simply LOVE the pellets - For the first two years, I was not prescribed ANYTHING! That quickly, my muscle mass deteriorated to the point that I could not squat down to pick up something off the floor without using my hands for support. I am now two weeks past my first pellet implants and I feel like a COMPLETELY NEW WOMAN. May not be for everyone, but so far, Danny and I BOTH love it.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Wow! I was given that, at first. I had the same problem. The pellet implant provides continuous dosing, and I don't have to worry with the stomach upset I was experiencing with the pills. Hope everything works out wonderfully, for you.

... and the changes were made: now I am on Premarin 1.25mg/day pill.
The patch was ok during the weeks that I was in bed. Once I started to move around more and got back to more "normal" activities my moods went biserk and energy level disappeared. Now with the pill I am doing great!

I take vivelledot .1mg. I think I should be using more then that. As I am very emotional.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I had both ovaries removed because of the severe endometriosis, but the question of HRT wasn't even brought up since I was diagnosed with breast cancer three and a half years ago. My tumor was estrogen receptive and I'm on tamoxifen, so HRT is not an option for me.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Year post op today...I was on Premarin .625 until last week at my check up. I switched to Estratest. Not sure I like it. Added the testosterone for "drive" issues, but now it seems like I'm back to getting sweats/flashes, and I'm still just as tired and having trouble sleeping. I keep having headaches every day, too. I'm trying to wait to make sure I don't just need an adjustment period. The Premarin was $27 for me for the 90 day supply. Estratest $3 per month.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I replied before that I was on a generic 0.075 Estradiol patch. Yesterday, I was changed to Evamist, 2 sprays a day until hot flashes are gone and then down to one spray.
