Given green light...problems...help!

Oh sisters, I am so sad this morning.

Fair warning, this post will probably be long and contain way too much info. Here is your chance to hit the "back" button.

I went to Dr yesterday for an inscision check. (Since the fire extinquisher incident I have have had some issues with it bleeding) After a look-see, Dr asked me when my 6 week check was. I said at 8 1/2 weeks. He asked why was my 6 week check at 8 1/2 weeks. I said because you are too busy to see me any sooner. After laughing he said to assume the position and we would do the check now.

"GULP!" I was so not ready to hear that. I mean I have been feeling great, but I was not mentally prepared to have anything go in there just yet. It must have been written all over my face too because he got serious and said that if I felt ANY pain or discomfort he would stop and we would check again at the next appointment.

Internals have always hurt me like the ****ens. Between the cysts, ando, and super tilted uterus, the pain has been awful. This Dr has been way more gentle than any other, so I took a deep breath and said okay, let's go.

So he starts the exam by saying the usual speach. "Your going to feel my fingers touching you" Ummm okay, like I didn't already know that...LOL " Now I am going to begin placing the spetulum (sp?) inside" Here is where I took a deep breath and steeled myself for the pain....

NOTHING! No pain at all, heck it wasn't even slightly uncomfortable!

I thought, wow so this is what the rest of the world felt during an exam. I was so happy! Dr admired his handiwork and pronpounced me perfect and ready for adventure. I about jumped out of the sturrips to call DH and tell him we were a go!

We had been given the green light to "test drive" the equipment at 2 week as long as it was all "outercourse". From that fun we knew I could reach the big "O", but unfortunatly it was very different. It was a little "o" now and took a while to get there. Have seen on here others having similar problems and had read that practice could help....he-he...practice is good!

So there we were, all ready, hubby being a sweetheart, lots of gentle forplay, taking it very slow and I was finally very ready. Everything on the outside was slowly responding, but it takes a lot more than it used to. Now we attempt actual penetration (sounds so clinical...LOL) I could feel him ouside me, but as he penetrated....NOTHING! As he continued...NOTHING! As he finished...NOTHING! Being the doll he is he made sure I had my little "o" other ways, but I could feel nothing during.

Sisters I don't mean "low sensation". I also don't mean nothing as in I was not into it. I mean numb as your mouth durning a root canal!

After he fell asleep I did some exploring on my own and found that on the outside there is sensation, but right at the lip, cusp, whatever you want to call it, it ends.

Has this happened to anyone else? Will my feeling come back? Should I call the Dr?

Help sisters!!! I don't know who else to ask and I am really upset!

Allison

Given green light...problems...help!

Hi, Allison!

I haven't been given the green light as of yet, but I k now I have read of other sisters who have had problems with vaginal numbness. I'm sure someone will chime in here soon. I hope this resolves for you!

Hugs,
Jo

Allyson, my first response is that you are still only at 1 month post-op and in recovery EVEN IF nothing hurts. Numbness can be an issue after any surgery. Usually the areas recover but it can take longer than expected to have them do so and every person has different rates of recovery with that. I had an abdominal surgery last August and I still have an area of numbness on my belly but the area has been slowly but surely shrinking every month. I would think the vagina could also be somewhat traumatized by the surgery since, even with the abdominal approach, it is pulled and often stitched to some support. Before total panic, I'd give myself some more time to recover. Also, it does not hurt to call your doctor and ask. I do feel like I could call my doctor and just yesterday he reiterated that and said to call if I had ANY questions at all. Yesterday he put me on premarin cream to help my vagina heal more quickly. Maybe you could ask specifically about that with your own GYN? One month is still not very long past all the body trauma of surgery. Hope you get peace of mind about it soon.
