Thank You Horsewoman and Hubby!!!

Thank you so much for posting your pre-op and initial post-op experiences on this site. I am a visual person and the pictures were the most comforting aspect of your e-mail. Especially to see you smiling and sitting "indian style" in your bed!!! It was very comforting to me to see and read how you're doing.

Reading the posts, it seems as if the vaginal hyst is much easier...But for those of us who have large fibroids and therefore no option for the vaginal hyst, reading positive posts such as yours gives you the encouragement to know you can get through your situation...

I'd like to encourage more sisters who have undergone the TAH to post their experiences. I am one who will truly appreciate it!

Thank you

Thank You Horsewoman and Hubby!!!

Glad to be helpful.

Aside from the one day I spent stoned (on drugs *I* specifically requested), and one painful day (because I was refusing stronger drugs I thought would make me sick) it really wasn't bad.

Definitely ask your doctor for an abdominal binder (big stretchy band that goes around your lower belly). It makes everything a *lot* more comfortable.

The incision is really not that painful. Sitting up (from lying down) is hard. Do as much as you can before you go in to strengthen your arms. I was doing lots of heavy yardwork, and boy am I glad I did. If I'm just sitting, not trying to move around, I'm not even aware of the incision.

They say a TAH is harder to get over. Maybe it does take longer, but I feel better now than I did at the same point after my laparoscopy last month.

OK, gotta rest... Don't worry, you'll be fine.

Thank You Horsewoman and Hubby!!!

Hi Lisa and Linda.

I must agree, Lisa. Linda and Michael's posts were WONDERFUL and the pictures were GREAT! :-)

I had a TAH 12/18 and I agree with Linda. I feel better than I did after my lap on 10/26!

I also agree that you need to strengthen your arms! You will definitely need to use them! I did that by shopping (hee hee hee)

I feel that first and foremost a positive attitude is most important. Oh yeah, AND the DRUGS.... LOL

Have a GREAT HOLIDAY!
