1 week post abdominal hysterectomy - problems getting in and out of bed

hi. I had a TAH on Jan 9. I think I am recovering well, except going to bed, laying down is so uncomfortable that I really don't. go to bed. I'm exhausted. I fall asleep sitting up in a wing chair, but that can't make up for a full night's rest. I am considering going out to buy a recliner,

I also had a TAH and sleeping was a bit difficult to start with. I had to sleep on my back for the first two weeks or so, although I am a side sleeper normally.

I had 2 pillows under my head and placed a pillow length-ways from my chest area down each side of my legs. This stopped me rolling onto my side when I was asleep.

I found this worked well, and bit by bit I was able to move onto my side. It just takes time to find what works for you.

I used about 6-7 pillows to sleep for the first few weeks. I had 3 under my head, but not stacked, kind of like stairs, then one on each side partially tucked under me, then 2 under my knees. It was almost like I was in a recliner. I had my kids help me get them situated at first so I found the right combo. Hope it helps
