1st period after d&c and hysteroscopy

Hi, I called my doc today (who is not as helpful as I thought she was-she refuses to schedule anything because there is nothing wrong with me excet hormonal issues-although I don't call flooding nothing wrong), because I've got my first period after a d&c and hysteroscopy and I'm in PAIN with cramping, I never have cramps. Is this normal? She did not call me back yet, I expect I'll hear from her tomorrow as I left a very lengthy message for her telling her she's just not aggressive enough as I've been suffering for as long as I can remember with flooding etc and that I was cramping pretty badly.

Is this normal the 1st period after and I'm only on hour 5 of it, and I'm already getting traumatized with fear wondering if I have to go thru more flooding this month.

Help???

1st period after d&c and hysteroscopy

Hi JeanieBeanie,
Sorry to hear about what you are going through.
To have such symptoms and be told nothing is wrong...how frustrating.
I would ask your doctor about adenomyosis.
I had a hysteroscopy as well as a sonohystogram and neither showed any evidence of adenomyosis, although I was diagnosed with that after my hyst. They did show my fibroids though.
Adenomyosis often does not appear through imaging and can only be diagnosed after the uterus is removed and sent to the pathologist, as was the case with me.
Adenomyosis causes heavy, painful bleeding.
That being said, there are also some women on hystersisters, who had DUB without any physical abnormalities of the uterus, but still had a hysterectomy for quality of life issues.
If you doctor is not sympathetic to the impact of your periods on your quality of life, I'd find another doctor or at least get a second opinion. Also, ask them other options like birth control pills or the Mirena IUD.

best of luck to you

I think so, but getting the insurance company to approve that can be hard.

Relief on the way-

Well, I called the doctor again as I'm having major bouts of flooding and she put me back on prometrium and we made an appt for nov 3rd to discuss what type of ....hysterectomy i'll be having............................I just can't do this anymore, I know it's major surgery-but a small inconvenience in relation to how long this has been going on.

Jean,

I'm glad that you've made a decision that you're at peace with. You know your body better than anyone. I hope the prometrium helps till you get your surgery. Keep us posted when you get your date.

Blessings,
Sue
