10 Days post hysterectomy - have stabbing pain on left side with foul smelling odor

Hi I am new to the site. I had my total hysterectomy 10 days ago and this is the first day that I have felt semi normal. Although I still have pain sometimes I get a sharp stabbing pain on my lower left side and there is a foul smelling odor from the JJ. Has anyone had these happen to them?

Hi Meesha75! I had the stabbing pains early in recovery and those do subside. If taking ibuprofen, pain meds or applying heat or ice pack (making sure they are not in direct contact with your skin) doesn't help, you should contact your doc. I didn't have the foul smell coming from my JJ, but if it is foul, it may indicate that you have an infection. You should give your doc a call about this.
