Pain 6 days post op

I had a vaginal hysterectomy, vaginal vault suspension, rectocele and cystocele done. I was feeling a little better yesterday. However my dr ended up having to give me the stuff they give colonoscopy patients to drink because after 5 days of taking milk of magnesium I could not use the bathroom that finally worked. Still taking colace though. Well yesterday I was feeling a tiny bit better but was holding my 2 month old daughter when my 2 year old son grabbed something off the counter so I jumped up to get him and since then have had really bad pressure and discomfort in the rectal/perineum area. Has anyone else experienced this? Also took a Azo uti test today and it came back positive but I understand it's not uncommon after this type of surgery and having to have a foley in for several days. Any advice would be great

Has your pain subsided any? If not definitely call your Dr.

I started taking probiotics to help rebuild good bacteria in my body. You can do searches for UTI threads to see what others did to help.

I ended up in the er this past Sunday with a severe uti and rectal pain. After having a ct with contrast done they found I was completely backed up again. So the doc put me on lactulose 30ml twice a day so I took that until yesterday when I had to call my urogyn back because lack of bowel movements and severe rectal pressure so once again they gave me the golytely ( colonoscopy cleanser) but the rectal pressure is still there so I am not really sure what is going on. Has anyone else had problems like this after the surgery? I am 2 weeks post op today? Also noticed a burning sensation inside my vagina this morning. This has been a rough recovery so far. I have some people have rectal pressure for awhile after repairs though.

Also for the uti they put me on 750 mg of leviquin once a day and finished my last dose today but don't know if it's gone. I will take another Azo test in the am.

I am so sorry to hear about your issues. I know there have been members who have had bowel impaction even without the repair work.

Did the Dr tell you to do anything like increase liquids or fiber? Or stool softeners to make it easier to go?

The UTIs can recur, plus with a powerful antibiotic you kill off the the good bacteria. You may want to do some probiotics.
