Take one ovary??
Hi to all,
My preop is tomorrow and I want to go in prepared. Besides the (heavy bleeding, flooding, too long periods, etc) physical stuff, I have very bad pms/pmdd. I have read that
for some women, that removal of the uterus only (keep ovaries) aleviates some PMS issues. I know after my ablation three years ago, things seemed better the mood swings were not as bad. I was thinking, what if I keep just one ovary, anyone done that, or have comments on PMS after hyst keeping the ovaries. Oh, I am 37, so I don't think they normally would recommend taking them.
Thanks in advance.
Judy

Take one ovary??
My doc told me if I could keep one ovary I would still have the feelings of getting my period but no blood. Due to endo both ovaries were removed during my hyst, so there goes that.

Take one ovary??
((( Judy )))
My feelings are that if your ovaries are healthy, why remove them? I had no choice, mine had to be taken. But given a choice I'd have opted to keep them and I was 54 at the time of my tah/bso. This is definately a decision that you need to make with your dr. Together you should be able to decide what is best for you .
Best wishes.
